Position Summary
The Warehouse/Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, staging, and distributing raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods within Intercon Chemical’s warehouse and production areas. This role supports manufacturing efficiency, inventory accuracy, and timely order fulfillment while upholding all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Receive incoming shipments of raw materials, chemicals, packaging supplies, and equipment.
- Inspect deliveries for accuracy, damage, and proper documentation (packing slips, certificates of analysis).
- Record material receipts in the inventory management system.
- Label, organize, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Perform routine cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliations.
Material Handling for Production
- Stage and deliver raw materials, packaging supplies, and components to batching, filling, and production areas.
- Remove finished goods from production lines and transfer them to designated storage or staging areas.
- Ensure correct materials are issued according to batch sheets, production orders, or pick lists.
- Assist production teams by replenishing components and maintaining material flow.
Shipping & Order Fulfillment
- Pick, pack, and palletize customer orders based on order sheets or system requirements.
- Prepare shipments by wrapping pallets, labeling freight, and verifying order accuracy.
- Load outbound trucks safely and efficiently using forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Work with shipping carriers to complete required paperwork (BOLs, labels, manifests).
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all Intercon Chemical safety policies, including PPE requirements for chemical handling.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material?handling equipment.
- Maintain proper storage practices for chemicals, flammable materials, and hazardous goods.
- Keep warehouse aisles, docks, and storage areas clean and organized following 5S and GMP guidelines.
Warehouse Support & Communication
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all warehouse transactions.
- Communicate shortages, damage, delays, or inventory concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with warehouse organization, layout improvements, and process changes.
- Support production, QC, and logistics teams with material?related needs.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or material handling.
- Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks including reaching, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Basic computer skills for inventory systems and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
Preferred
- Experience in chemical or cleaning product manufacturing.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, HMIS, or OSHA standards.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, barcoding, or warehouse scanners.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse and production environment with exposure to chemicals, forklifts, and varying temperatures.
- Requires PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, steel?toe shoes, and hearing protection as needed.
- Frequent lifting, moving, and handling of drums, pails, cases, and pallets.
