Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Low Voltage Service Technician to join our security integration team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, programming, servicing, and maintaining access control systems and other related low voltage security solutions such as CCTV and intrusion detection systems. This role requires both technical expertise and strong customer service skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain electronic access control systems, including card readers, door hardware, electric strikes, maglocks, and control panels.

  • Run and terminate low voltage cabling (CAT5e/6, RS-485, etc.) for access control and related systems.

  • Program and troubleshoot access control software and associated hardware.

  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and floor plans for layout and installation purposes.

  • Perform system testing, inspections, and certifications in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.

  • Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure proper system integration and timely project delivery.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of service calls, installations, and programming tasks.

  • Provide technical support and customer training on system use and functionality.

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and local building/security codes.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in electronics or low voltage systems preferred.

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience with access control system installation and service.

    • Experience working in commercial, industrial, or multi-tenant environments is a plus.

  • Licensing & Certifications:
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

    • State-specific low voltage or security license, if applicable.

    • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.

    • Manufacturer certifications (see below) are highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in the installation and configuration of electric door hardware and locking mechanisms.

    • Familiar with low voltage wiring standards and termination practices.

    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues efficiently.

Technicians should have experience with some or all of the following platforms:

    • AMAG Symmetry

    • Genetec Security Center

    • HID / VertX

    • Brivo

    • Honeywell Pro-Watch

    • Avigilon Access Control

    • Openpath / Verkada

  • Video Surveillance Integration (Optional/Preferred):
    • Milestone XProtect

    • Genetec Omnicast

    • Avigilon

    • ExacqVision

    • Hanwha / Wisenet Wave

  • General Tools & Software:
    • Microsoft Office / Outlook

    • Mobile work order and ticketing apps (e.g., ServiceTitan, simPRO, Fieldwire)

    • Basic use of multimeters, punchdown tools, and network testers


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in ceiling spaces or confined areas.

  • Comfortable working on active construction sites or occupied buildings.

  • Willingness to travel to job sites within the region; occasional overtime or after-hours work may be required.
