Entry Level Low Voltage Technician – Richardson, Texas

We are seeking an experienced all-around Service Technician who can confidently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of commercial low voltage systems. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience across multiple disciplines - including structured cabling, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, audio-visual, and security systems - who enjoys solving problems and providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities:

  • Respond to commercial service calls involving a wide variety of low voltage systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain:
    • Structured Cabling (Copper & Fiber)
    • Data Networks
    • Access Control Systems
    • CCTV & IP Camera Systems
    • Audio-Visual (AV) Systems
    • Paging & Intercom Systems
    • Security & Intrusion Detection Systems
    • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Identify system failures and perform efficient repairs to restore functionality
  • Install, terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
  • Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and low voltage infrastructure issues
  • Service card readers, electric strikes, mag locks, request-to-exit devices, door hardware, and associated access control equipment
  • Troubleshoot IP and analog camera systems, NVRs, DVRs, and video management systems
  • Perform service and repairs on commercial audio-visual equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, and control systems
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm devices including initiating devices, notification appliances, control panels, and associated field wiring
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and manufacturer documentation
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system inspections, and operational testing
  • Complete detailed service reports documenting findings, repairs performed, and recommendations
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, dispatch, and fellow technicians
  • Prioritize multiple service calls while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Requirements:

  • Experience troubleshooting and servicing multiple commercial low voltage systems including:
    • Structured Cabling
    • Fiber Optics
    • Data Networks
    • Access Control
    • CCTV / Video Surveillance
    • Audio-Visual
    • Security & Intrusion Systems
    • Paging & Communication Systems
    • Fire Alarm
  • 3+ years of commercial low voltage service experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate and resolve system issues efficiently
  • Working knowledge of commercial low voltage wiring standards and installation practices
  • Experience installing, terminating, testing, and certifying copper and fiber cabling
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer documentation
  • Comfortable working independently while managing daily service calls
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing service demands
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred
  • Ability to lift and safely maneuver a 60–100 lb ladder
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime based on service needs
  • Must have basic hand tools and PPE:
    • Hard hat
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
    • Hi-Vis vest
    • Steel-toe boots

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, BICSI, NICET, Lift Certification, and manufacturer certifications on Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, AV, or Security Systems are a plus
