Position Summary
The Lead Low Voltage Technician is responsible for overseeing installations, guiding technicians, and ensuring project excellence across voice, data, fiber, and structured cabling systems. This role combines hands-on field work with onsite leadership, requiring strong technical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to manage crews and client expectations on active job sites.
This is a long-term opportunity supporting new construction data center projects with Premiere.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, and test structured cabling including twisted pair, coax, CAT5/CAT6, tray cable, and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode)
- Lead and coach technicians on installation methods, safety practices, and quality standards
- Ensure all work aligns with project Scope of Work (SoW), timelines, and company standards
- Enforce safety policies and escalate high-risk activities when necessary
- Manage project deliverables including scope documents, schedules, QA checklists, punch lists, and closeout documentation
- Maintain strong communication with clients, project leads, and internal teams
- Identify scope changes, schedule impacts, and resource needs in real time and escalate appropriately
- Support formal scope change requests when needed
- Engage with clients to ensure expectations are met and project delivery remains strong
- Assist with field team development and provide feedback to project leadership
Requirements
- 2–5+ years of hands-on experience installing telecom cabling, TCP/IP networks, CCTV, wireless, and access control systems
- Strong experience with structured cabling, fiber optics, and commercial low-voltage systems
- Ability to install, terminate, and test low-voltage and fiber optic cabling
- Solid understanding of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and National Electrical Code
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using power tools and hand tools
- Strong documentation, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while leading field crews
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- BICSI or manufacturer-specific certifications
- Experience in data center environments or large-scale commercial construction
- Experience with client-facing reporting and installation planning tools

Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Typically around 50 hours per week depending on site conditions
- Must be flexible for overtime, nights, and weekends as needed
- Long-term local work in Spartanburg, with occasional travel to Charlotte or Raleigh if needed during project delays (rare for Leads)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs
Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, man lifts, scissor lifts, and confined spaces
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and work for extended periods
Comfortable working in active construction environments with fall protection and safety gear
