Level 2 Low Voltage Technician – Structured Cabling and Audio Visual | Washington, DC

Next Level Technician is seeking an experienced Level 2 Low Voltage Technician for commercial and data center projects in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking for long-term work, competitive pay, and the opportunity to work on high-profile projects.

Pay: $28.00–$35.00 per hour(based on experience)

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, dress, label, and test CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling.

  • Perform copper and fiber testing using Fluke or equivalent certification equipment.

  • Install and terminate patch panels, racks, cabinets, ladder rack, cable tray, J-hooks, MDF/IDF infrastructure, and equipment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, one-line diagrams, and construction drawings.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve cabling and connectivity issues with minimal supervision.

  • Install and support access control, CCTV, wireless access points, Audio Visual (AV), and other low voltage systems.

  • Maintain clean, organized work areas while following project schedules and quality standards.

  • Work safely on ladders, scissor lifts, and other aerial equipment.

  • Mentor Level 1 technicians and assist project leads with daily job site activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial low voltage or structured cabling experience.

  • Strong experience with copper and fiber optic installations and terminations.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Experience reading blueprints and coordinating installations from project drawings.

  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and structured cabling best practices.

  • Audio Visual (AV) installation experience is a plus.

  • Experience with access control, CCTV, wireless access points, or other integrated low voltage systems is preferred.

  • Experience in commercial, mission-critical, or data center environments is highly preferred.

  • BICSI certification is a plus.

  • OSHA 10/30 and lift certifications are preferred.

  • Must have reliable transportation, basic hand tools, and required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vest, and steel-toe boots).
