Position Summary
The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems in a secure nuclear facility environment. This role requires a dependable, motivated technician who can work independently with minimal supervision and grow into leading additional technicians on-site.
This is a strong contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term stability and career growth potential.
Responsibilities
- Pull, terminate, and test CAT6 cabling in commercial and industrial environments
- Install racks, J-hooks, patch panels, and basic low-voltage devices
- Support structured cabling infrastructure across the plant site
- Read and interpret blueprints, floorplans, and scope documentation
- Maintain cable organization, labeling, and quality installation standards
- Troubleshoot cabling issues and ensure system functionality
- Work independently on-site with limited supervision when needed
- Support occasional leadership responsibilities for additional technicians
- Maintain professionalism, accountability, and strong safety standards at all times
Requirements
- Mid-to-high level structured cabling experience
- Strong experience pulling, terminating, and testing CAT6 cabling
- Experience installing racks, patch panels, J-hooks, and basic low-voltage devices
- Ability to work independently and handle most daily tasks without heavy supervision
- Strong accountability, motivation, and trustworthiness
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Clean background and drug screen required for nuclear plant badging
- No felonies or significant misdemeanor history due to plant security requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in industrial plants, manufacturing, or high-security facilities
- Experience leading or mentoring junior technicians
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Typical hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Occasional nights or weekends may be required, but this is rare
- Must be local to Seneca / surrounding Greenville area
- No mileage or drive time paid to and from the plant
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work on ladders, in ceilings, and throughout active plant environments
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding conditions
- Comfortable working in secure industrial environments with strict compliance standards
