Position Summary

The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling systems in commercial environments. This role includes working on structured cabling infrastructure such as Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optics, and network systems while ensuring high-quality workmanship and industry standards.


Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling
  • Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling in commercial environments
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, and conduit
  • Label, dress, and organize cables according to industry standards
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Perform cable testing and troubleshooting using appropriate tools
  • Assist with installation of network devices, racks, and patch panels
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Follow safety protocols and jobsite requirements at all times

Requirements

  • Experience with structured cabling installations (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber)
  • Ability to terminate and test copper and/or fiber cabling
  • Knowledge of low-voltage systems and installation practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work on a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on commercial construction projects
  • Familiarity with Fluke testing and certification tools
  • Experience installing and dressing server racks and patch panels
  • OSHA 10 certification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work on ladders and at heights
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various jobsite conditions
  • Willingness to work in construction environments (indoor/outdoor)
