Position Summary
The Low Voltage Electrician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and supporting low voltage electrical systems and infrastructure in commercial construction environments. This role requires experience with conduit, cable installation, device terminations, and interpreting construction drawings while maintaining high-quality workmanship and safety standards on job sites.
Responsibilities
• Install and support low voltage systems including structured cabling, access control, CCTV, DAS, AV, and communication systems
• Run and bend EMT and other conduit types as required for commercial installations
• Pull, route, terminate, and label low voltage cabling according to project specifications
• Install and mount electrical and low voltage devices including cameras, panels, readers, switches, and related equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, schematics, and construction drawings accurately
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on low voltage electrical systems and infrastructure
• Assist with retrofits, upgrades, and system modifications on existing commercial sites
• Support testing, commissioning, and system startup activities as needed
• Maintain jobsite cleanliness, professionalism, and safety compliance at all times
• Follow OSHA 10 guidelines and company installation standards
Requirements
• 2+ years of commercial low voltage or electrical installation experience
• Experience with conduit bending, cable pulling, and device installation
• Knowledge of structured cabling, access control, CCTV, or communication systems
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
• Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
• Basic computer and smartphone proficiency for reporting and communication
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• OSHA 10 Certification required
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with commercial electrical construction environments
• Familiarity with NEC standards and low voltage installation best practices
• Experience leading small crews or mentoring junior technicians
• Experience with firestopping, grounding, and cable pathway installation
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and work in elevated or small spaces
• Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and work with tools for extended periods
• Comfortable working in active construction environments
