POSITION SUMMARY
Prepare cost estimates for electrical systems installation within commercial and industrial construction projects for use in determining and submitting bids. This role also includes the responsibility of building positive and effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Estimating Delivery
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate estimates resulting in zero (0) additional purchased goods and services required outside of a change order
- Prepare bids and submit them prior to entry deadlines
- Submit prepared estimates to Estimating Manager at least one (1) full business day prior to bid due date
- Prepare and send bid scope letter to customer at least one (1) full business day prior to bid due date
- Review bid documents in advance of and attend pre-bid meetings to ensure full scope of project is understood
- Provide all related project data in job folder within five (5) days of notification of job being awarded
- Attend all project Kick-off/Turnover meetings with designated project team – review and collaborate on quote, budget, schedule, timeline, and overall scope of project
- Attend monthly project review meeting to learn of project opportunities where proactive intervention could be needed
- Attend a post project review meeting with internal project team to generate a Lessons Learned report listing what was Right, Wrong, Confusing, and Missing
- Interface with external and internal suppliers to source the most cost-effective component or labor solution to aid in providing a cost advantage
- Leverage internal support such as the Prefab department to lower costs and lessen on-site work and safety risks
- Attend all pre-bid meetings and jobsite walks to fully understand project scope
- Review and complete pricing on all RFC orders by requested due date
- Update all project related documentation due to impact of approved RFCs
- Support the production of all final as-build documents to be turned over to the GC/Customer
Business Development
- Attend at least one qualified networking event/meeting monthly to obtain contact information on prospective clients/jobs and/or meet with a GC
- Contact GC one (1) week prior and within 24-hours of bid due date to help answer any questions
- Track and follow-up on all open bids not yet awarded to clarify any outstanding questions and to learn of award date timeline
- Attend weekly department meetings to stay knowledgeable of business developments
- Attend at least one (1) industry related trade show event per year
- Promote Electric Plus’s service and industrial capabilities to win at least two (2) new direct service/industrial jobs per year
- Build effective relationships with existing and new clients and suppliers to foster the marketing of the company and its services to engineers, planners, and other decision makers to assist in obtaining new bid opportunities
- Demonstrate a commitment to build strong internal and external relationships
- Follow Electric Plus established work processes and procedures and provide input on where improvements can be made
- Institute a culture of a safe work environment for employees, customers and subcontractors – comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to Safety Director
- Actively engage in your industry and community, including but not limited to NECA, IBEW, and local organizations as deemed necessary
- Embrace and support the company’s values
Personal Development
- Prepare and submit annually a personal skills development plan that aligns to your role and company vision
- Attend at least one (1) industry association (ASPE, NECA, ISA, ETI, etc.) meeting per quarter
- Complete 10 hours per quarter in training that supports your personal development plan
- Act with professionalism and integrity in all actions while working on the company’s behalf – includes time in the office, day and overnight travel, or at a vendor or client’s site
Financial Reporting
- Generate, review, and submit expense report weekly
- Coordinate with PMs and Business Development Manager to meet with at least one current and different customer monthly (lunch, coffee, sporting event, drinks, etc.) to learn of new project opportunities
- Review customer satisfaction surveys and share relevant information with subcontractors and vendors for future project work within five (5) days of receiving customer feedback

Experience and Education
- B.S/B.A./A.S in Electrical Engineering or Technology or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in construction sciences
- 4 – 7 years minimum related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Electrical systems knowledge and ability to read, create, and understand electrical drawings
- Construction experience
Physical Requirements
- Light physical activity performing generally non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative and production/technical nature.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment
- Approximately 85% office work and 15% at customer or installation site, as project needs require
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate however, high noise levels may be experienced at construction sites
- Evening and weekend work will be required as necessary to facilitate needs in order to meet bid submission deadlines
