QPS has a 1st shift Quality Technician position available located in Kansas City, KS. Great benefits once hired on by the company full-time. Must be detail-oriented with quality control experience ideally in a manufacturing environment. Quality Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Read and interpret part drawings and technical specifications
- Develop and improve inspection instructions
- Inspections for measuring and test equipment to include but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gages, gage blocks and specialty gaging for steel stamped and fabricated parts
- Maintain documentation through organizing and filing system
- Compliance through internal audits, including but not limited to the manufacturing floor, internal company work and inspection instructions
- Through continuous improvement processes, assist with statistical studies, R&R’s, efficiency, product quality and implementing improvements
- Dimensional Layout Reports
- Compare quality standards to customer requirements
- Answer questions for customers and provide PPAP support
- Perform calibrations and maintain the calibration database for all employee, company and customer owned gaging
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned
- Understand and follow employee handbook guidelines
- Comply with and enforce safety practices and use of PPE
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures
- Provide quality service by enforcing quality standards
Quality Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Willingness and technical aptitude for learning to inspect parts on the CMM, with full understanding of GD&T
- 2 years of related experience and training or an equivalent combination of education and experience desired
- Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, written or pictorial form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Able to understand file management, data and record keeping
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel
- Desired license, certifications, training include Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) – operator, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) – programmer, Internal Auditor, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Specific hearing abilities include the ability to determine variances in tone, pitch, volume, and the ability to discern direction of sound
- Work in a normal office environment, occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and can be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time; some dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, and solvents
- Extended CRT viewing and keyboarding exists
- Moderate noise level
