Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
- Install CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic cabling, patch panels, racks, cabinets, cable tray, J-hooks, and pathways.
- Perform MDF/IDF buildouts, equipment installation, cable dressing, labeling, and terminations.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot commercial wiring, circuits, outlets, panels, lighting, transformers, junction boxes, and electrical devices.
- Perform light commercial electrical work in healthcare facilities and other occupied commercial environments.
- Install and bend EMT, PVC, and Rigid/Rob Roy conduit from 1/2" through 4", including 90s, 45s, offsets, and saddles using hand or hydraulic benders.
- Install cable tray and other electrical and low-voltage pathways according to project specifications and code requirements.
- Troubleshoot both electrical and low-voltage systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Read and interpret low-voltage blueprints, floor plans, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Transition between electrical and low-voltage work based on project demands.
- Work professionally alongside doctors, nurses, patients, administrators, facility personnel, contractors, and other trades.
- Follow facility safety, infection-control, access, and PPE requirements while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, low-voltage standards, safety requirements, and company best practices.
- Travel to local customer job sites throughout the Nashville area as needed.
- 3+ years of commercial low-voltage or structured cabling experience required.
- Commercial electrical experience with the ability to perform light electrical work.
- Hands-on experience with structured cabling, data infrastructure, and low-voltage installations.
- Experience with copper cabling; fiber optic experience is a plus.
- Strong conduit installation and bending experience, including EMT, PVC, and Rigid/Rob Roy conduit.
- Experience installing cable tray, J-hooks, pathways, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and related infrastructure.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Ability to read electrical and low-voltage blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Willingness to perform both electrical and low-voltage work based on project needs.
- Experience working in occupied commercial environments; healthcare or hospital experience is highly preferred.
- Comfortable working in a hot environment approximately 90% of the time.
- Professional communication skills and ability to interact respectfully with customers, facility staff, and other trades.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally.
- Basic hand tools and required PPE.
- Journeyman Electrician License.
- Hospital or healthcare facility experience.
- Fiber optic installation, termination, and testing experience.
- BICSI certification or training.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- NFPA 70E certification.
- Experience with access control, CCTV, DAS, or other low-voltage systems.
