Position Summary
KHS USA is seeking a Commissioner I to lead the assembly, checkout, and installation of KHS machines in accordance with blueprints, specifications, schematics, and verbal/written instructions. This role provides both mechanical and electrical leadership to ensure machines are accepted on time and within budget, both at KHS USA facilities and at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the assembly of KHS machines and participate as a team member during machine power-up and start-up

Perform commissioning activities, documenting machine performance and verifying compliance with customer specifications using ISO quality procedures

Review mechanical and electrical specifications for wiring and controls; document deviations from original specifications during the build process

Coordinate with engineering to ensure all changes are incorporated into final documentation (e.g., prints) for internal records and customer delivery

Operate machines during customer factory acceptance tests

Test customer materials and products for packaging; provide feedback to engineering and project management and suggest improvements

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; implement approved modifications during start-up and checkout and document all changes

Participate in quality inspections using component and functional checklists and sign off on completed machines

Provide technical support to field service technicians during machine installation
Qualifications
-
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
-
3–5 years of experience assembling complex electromechanical equipment

Ability to understand, utilize, and demonstrate proficiency in the KHS USA enterprise resource planning (ERP) system

Familiarity with AutoCAD for viewing technical drawings

Working knowledge of PLCs, motion control systems, and operator interface software for diagnostics and troubleshooting

Experience working with large machined parts

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions

Proven ability to identify issues, assign tasks, and communicate effectively with leadership, peers, and customers to meet machine acceptance goals
