Reports to: Manufacturing & Supply Chain Manager
Position Summary:
The weld supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the weld departments to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. This role combines hands-on MIG welding knowledge with leadership, scheduling, and coordination to support both internal manufacturing needs and external customer commitments. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can manage people, processes, and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervisor and coordinate all activities within the weld department to meet production schedules and delivery commitments
- Plan, prioritize, and adjust daily and weekly welding schedules to align with internal and external customer deadlines
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to welders, ensuring productivity, accountability, and teamwork
- Perform hands-on MIG welding as needed to support production, training or troubleshooting
- Ensure all welding work meets quality standards, drawings, specifications, and company procedures
- Enforce safety policies, welding best practices, and proper use of PPE and equipment
- Train, mentor, and evaluate welding team members, including onboarding, new hires and skill development
- Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and quality teams to resolve issues and improve workflow
- Monitor material flow, equipment availability, and labor utilization to minimize downtime
- Operate forklifts as required to move materials, components, or finished assemblies
- Maintain accurate production records, schedules, and basic reports using company computer systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, quality and safety
Required Qualification:
- Proven MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Forklift operator experience (certification preferred or ability to obtain)
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
- Working computer skills, including basic proficiency with production systems, scheduling tools, or spreadsheets
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with custom or engineered-to-order products
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
- Previous supervisor or lead experience in a weld or production setting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) – preferred but not required

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials consistent with a manufacturing environment
Work Environment
This position works primarily in a manufacturing shop environment and requires hands-on interaction with welding operations, equipment, and production personnel
